GRAFFITI CAVE

Yesterday Alyssa and I walked six miles into Griffith Park to explore the site of the old zoo here in LA.  Alyssa is always looking for good graffiti spots here and while hiking around in the park discovered a treasure trove of it on the walls of the old zoo.  Now technically we were not suppose to be there but we snuck under a wire door and crawled into what I would describe as a cave full of fantastic images.  The walls of these crumbling old cages for animals were covered with art.  I felt like a cave man discovering prehistoric cave drawings and immediately was in awe of the art work done.  The feeling of being inside where animals once lived was “creepy” and made me sad at the same time.  Animals were confined in these tiny spaces seemed wrong.  The feeling of discovery as I crawled through each opening was fantastic as I shot pictures till my battery died in my camera.  As we exited the spaces I vowed to go back as there was still so many wonderful pictures and subject matter for my upcoming series.  A day of “creative” discoveries was so much fun!  I love LA!
